Description
A wholesome and elegant homemade treat for your canine companion, combining the natural sweetness of carrots and honey with creamy peanut butter. This small-batch cake features a tender crumb and is prepared with professional-grade techniques to celebrate your pet’s special moments.
Ingredients
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)
- 1/4 cup cooking oil (grapeseed or vegetable oil)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup finely shredded carrots
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 6-cup ring mold or small fluted tube pan with oil.
- In a large glass bowl, whisk together the egg, honey, peanut butter, oil, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth, glossy, and fully emulsified.
- Using a silicone spatula, gently fold in the finely shredded carrots using a circular motion to ensure even distribution.
- Sift the whole wheat flour and baking soda directly over the wet mixture, then fold in gently until no streaks of flour remain, taking care not to overwork the batter.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared pan and bake for approximately 40 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to rest in the pan for 10 minutes to set its structure, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely before serving.
Notes
Always verify that your peanut butter is free from xylitol, which is a sweetener toxic to dogs. If your dog has a sensitive stomach, you can substitute the whole wheat flour with oat flour for a gentler alternative that maintains a similar texture.
