Description
Skip the dry store-bought cakes and upgrade your Independence Day with these ultra-fudgy brownies topped with a tangy cream cheese cloud. This crowd-pleasing dessert features a festive firework design made from fresh summer berries, offering a perfect balance of rich chocolate and bright, tart fruit.
Ingredients
- 1 batch brownie batter (homemade or enough to fill a 9×13 pan)
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (or 2 cups Cool Whip)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 6-7 fresh strawberries
- 1 pint fresh blueberries
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325ºF and grease a 15×11-inch jelly roll pan.
- Prepare your brownie batter according to your preferred recipe or box instructions, then spread it evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 33-37 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean; allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
- If using heavy cream, beat it in a chilled bowl on high speed until stiff peaks form.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold the whipped cream (or Cool Whip) into the cream cheese mixture using a spatula until well combined and fluffy.
- Spread the frosting over the cooled brownie slab, using an offset spatula to smooth the surface (reserve some frosting for piping if desired).
- Slice strawberries lengthwise and arrange five slices in a star pattern on the frosting, placing blueberries in the center of each star.
- Create firework “tails” using remaining blueberries and pipe a decorative border with any reserved frosting and a star tip.
- Refrigerate the brownies until ready to serve to keep the frosting firm and the fruit fresh.
Notes
For the smoothest results, ensure your cream cheese is at true room temperature before mixing to prevent lumps in your frosting. To keep the design looking sharp, pat your washed berries completely dry with a paper towel before placing them on the white frosting to avoid color bleeding. If you prefer a more structured look, the fruit can easily be rearranged into a classic American flag pattern.
