Description

Transform a classic vanilla sponge into a magical 3D gown with this impressive architectural cake. Designed for fans of icy adventures, this towering dessert combines structural baking with creative icing techniques for a stunning royal finish.

Ingredients

  • 24 oz Unsalted Butter
  • 24 oz Granulated Sugar
  • 12 Large Eggs
  • 28 oz Self-Raising Flour
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Essence
  • Light and dark blue ready-made icing
  • White and pink icing
  • Snowflake sprinkles and silver balls
  • Green sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 320°F (160°C) and grease four pudding basins thoroughly.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until pale and fluffy, then beat in eggs one at a time followed by the vanilla.
  3. Gently fold in the self-raising flour, divide the batter among the basins, and bake for 45-60 minutes.
  4. Allow cakes to cool completely before stacking two basins together using icing as an adhesive.
  5. Carve a circular hole through the center of the stack and use a serrated knife to smooth the skirt shape.
  6. Roll out blue icing with embedded sprinkles and drape it over the cake to create fabric-like folds, then insert the doll and pipe the bodice.

Notes

Using high-quality butter is essential for both the structural integrity and the rich flavor of this large-scale cake. For the best carving results, allow the sponge to firm up in the refrigerator for at least an hour before you begin shaping the skirt.
